The DelZotto family which runs Tridel Corporation and the Longo family which operates Longo Fruit Markets were among those to win top honours at a gala celebrating the achievements of Canadian-Italians.

The Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association (CIBPA) of Toronto, presented the awards during its 56th anniversary celebrations at Le Parc Banquet and Conference Centres in Thornhill on November 15. The black-tie gala also paid tribute to outstanding individuals in their fields of expertise through the CIBPA’s Awards of Excellence Program.

Leo DelZotto accepted the President’s Award on behalf of the DelZotto Family, while Anthony Longo represented the Longo family in accepting the award for Business Excellence.

Also honoured were barrister and solicitor Celeste Iacobelli, counsel for the ARG Group, who won the award for Professional Excellence, and film director Joseph Procopio, who won the Next Generation Award.

Organizers said part of the proceeds from the gala would be designated to named funds for the CIBPA Education Foundation. Funds would also be designated to The Vaughan Health Care Foundation, in support of the foundation’s building project.

CIBPA is a non-profit membership association representing the business professional interests of Canadian-Italians in the Greater Toronto area and across the province.
